PROBIOGEN
The importance of preserving the second brain
PROBIOGEN is a food supplement that restores the intestinal microbiota’s bacterial flora, normalizes the motility of the intestine, helps to stimulate the body’s defenses and regulates mood.
Its effectiveness is guaranteed by the presence of SAM-e, S-adenosine-methionine, essential for re-establishing correct peristalsis and mood, thanks to a sophisticated serotonergic mechanism of action and the combination of prebiotics and probiotics: PROBIOGEN contains 20 billion probiotics from 5 different carefully selected bacterial strains. These good bacteria present in PROBIOGEN are protected by a natural biotechnology represented by the complexation with Trehalose, an inert sugar that embraces them, eliminating the risk of inactivation, which can come from temperature changes or from the attack of gastric juices. PROBIOGEN also contains Inulin, a prebiotic essential for the correct functioning of the intestine. It’s also worth noting the presence of Echinacea purpurea, Zinc and Vit. C.

The main indications for use are linked to conditions of:
- Constipation and diarrhea
- Stomach in disarray
- Abdominal pain and burning sensation
- Irritable colon
- Poor digestion
It is essential to try to maintain a balanced state of the intestinal microbiota in order to avoid problems such as irritable bowel syndrome. From this perspective, it’s important to underline that problems linked to a poorly functioning intestine can also be caused by factors that aren’t strictly linked to a disorganized diet, such as stress or leading a restless life.
With an irritable bowel, more specifically, there is an alternation of periods of diarrhea, constipation, and normal evacuation. Other abdominal symptoms also occur, such as meteorism with a sense of abdominal swelling, borborygmi or nausea, but also non-abdominal symptoms such as headache, easy tiredness, difficulty concentrating, palpitation, dyspnea and dysuria.
Colon
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
According to the Italian Unitary Colonproctology Society, “IBS” is a symptomatic complex that includes abdominal pain and bowel irregularities, due to functional motor alterations of the colon. It is undoubtedly the most frequent cause of referral to doctors for gastroenterological pathologies.
Characteristic symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome are:
- pain, more frequent in the left iliac fossa but which can manifest in all abdominal areas, is almost constantly present. Sometimes the pain can also affect the shoulders or lower back. This symptom is generally not very intense; does not disturb sleep, can follow a meal and is alleviated or resolved with the evacuation of feces or gas;
- constipation may restrain evacuation until only after the use of laxatives or enemas;
- diarrhea with a variable number of discharge of feces of reduced consistency, uncommonly at night and possibly accompanied by abdominal pain.
With irritable bowel, generally, there is an alternation of periods of diarrhea, constipation and normal evacuation.
Other abdominal symptoms: meteorism with a sense of abdominal
swelling, borborygmi, or nausea.
Other non-abdominal symptoms: headache, easy tiredness, difficulty concentrating,
palpitation, dyspnea, dysuria.
Advice

When the prevalent symptom is constipation, it is necessary to: increase the fiber ingested in the diet (at least 400g of vegetables or fruit per day), drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day, and increase physical activity. It’s also advised to try to regularize evacuation by going to the toilet, even in the absence of stimulus, at specific times.
When the prevalent symptom is pain, it’s useful to reduce the ingestion of fermenting substances such as: legumes, cabbage, onions, broccoli, spinach, plums, apples, cherries, bananas, milk, cream, ice cream, very fatty, fried foods, whole grains.
The patient should learn to recognize the foods that trigger or aggravate the symptoms in order to avoid them or reduce their intake.
