Sublingual hyaluronic acid: research conducted by EIDON salus
It is known that some active substances, if used as they are offered by nature, have a low probability of being absorbed by the human body. In scientific terms, it is said that these active ingredients are poorly bioavailable and therefore more difficult to absorb by the human organism. One of the intentions of EIDON salus is to experiment and use specific biotechnologies aimed at ensuring that these active substances are more easily absorbed without altering their structure.
An example of what has just been said is hyaluronic acid ingested orally. It is a long-chain macromolecule, not permeable to the intestinal epithelium. Therefore all preparations such as tablets, sachets, etc. are not very active because the quantities absorbed are minimal. Studies conducted on the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid, administered exogenously, to cross the intestinal epithelium, have demonstrated that only a LMW-HA (low molecular weight) is able to cross the intestinal barrier more easily, and that the increase in absorption it is also proportional to its concentration.
Based on this consideration, EIDON salus has specialized in the formulation of a hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid. It is a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which is “broken down” by hydrolysis, a biological process that uses water, so as to make it extremely bioavailable because it is absorbable sublingually and because it is still permeable to the intestinal barrier.
A hyaluronic acid with a low molecular weight facilitates gene expression in macrophages, endothelial cells, eosinophils and epithelial cells, stimulating tissue repair. Furthermore, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (LMW-HA) accumulates, playing an important role in reducing the action of inflammatory cells and the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, contemporaneously modulating the activity of synoviocytes, therefore increasing cell migration and phagocytosis of microbes.
In the case of Osidra, which combines two different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, sophisticated laboratory manufacturing processes lead to an ideal rheology, so as to make the product fluid and easily usable through a controlled delivery spray.
